Blog Fail

by Scott Johnson on October 2, 2009

In an attempt to improve and add more features to my website, I tried to change the URL of my blog.  It can be done, but not by idiots like me.  The effort failed miserably.  And I lost all of my content, plug-ins, and a lot of time.  But I learned a great deal, however.  Like this gem:  don’t try anything major without consulting with someone who actually knows what they’re doing.  But setbacks can be productive in the long run.

Originally I just had a blog, but I wanted to create a site with a little more substance.  When I started, I didn’t trust my html abilities to develop a respectable site.  But recently, I came across Wix.com.  It’s a great website editor app with drag/drop capability…very intuitive.  That discovery instilled in me some confidence, and that’s how I ended up in my current predicament.

Finally, with some help from John–developer guru–at work, I’m getting back on track.  I still have a great deal to get done before I get this project where I want it, but the process has been informative and exciting.  I will have many improvements to come so stick around.
